Why Junctions Define the Class of an Interior
Stretching a flat membrane is a routine task. The real engineering begins at every junction: ceiling-to-wall, ceiling-to-furniture, ceiling-to-light fixture. It is the quality of these details that determines whether your interior looks like standard developer-grade finishes or a considered architectural project.
Solution 1: Shadow Gap
Problem: A conventional ceiling skirting board (polyurethane or polystyrene) yellows over time under tropical UV, peels away in high humidity and collects dust in its joints — all of which cheapens the look of the room.
Engineering solution: Instead of skirting, we use a shadow-gap profile that creates a precise 6—8 mm technological gap between the wall and the ceiling. The ceiling is visually "detached" from the walls — a crisp shadow line with no decorative trim whatsoever.
Technical execution: A rigid extruded aluminium profile is anchor-fixed to the wall. The membrane is tucked into a dedicated channel in the profile, completely concealing all fasteners.
Effect: Architectural purity of line. An essential element for minimalist and loft-style interiors. Average cost of a ceiling with a shadow-gap profile — from 2,500 ฿/m² (final price depends on the number of corners and room configuration).
Solution 2: Floating Ceiling with LED Perimeter Light
Problem: A standard ceiling-to-wall joint is a hard line. A floating ceiling replaces it with a soft luminous contour: the effect is of the ceiling plane hovering freely without touching the walls.
Engineering solution: A dedicated contour profile with an integrated channel for LED strip. The light is directed at the wall and reflects off it, producing a soft diffused halo around the entire perimeter.

Decorative-grade LED strips (10—14 W/m) — and especially high-output architectural strips (up to 24 W/m) — generate considerable heat. Mounting them directly on a PVC membrane is unacceptable: once the contact zone exceeds +60 °C the polymer begins to deform. The floating profile, made from structural aluminium, acts as a heat sink: it dissipates the thermal load effectively and keeps the membrane contact temperature within safe limits (+40 °C) even with the backlight running 24/7.
Effect: A visual expansion of room volume. The soft diffused light is ideal for evening lighting scenarios in bedrooms and living rooms. From 3,000 ฿/m².
Engineering limitation: Grazing side light works like an X-ray — it ruthlessly reveals every wave, bump or dip in the wall surface. Like the shadow-gap profile, the floating profile demands walls with impeccable geometry. Installation is permitted only on walls plastered with guide rails, over silent stretch walls by LuxeSpan, or smooth wall panels.
Solution 3: Ceiling-to-Built-in-Furniture Integration
Problem: A 5—15 cm gap between the top of a wardrobe and the ceiling is a hard-to-reach dust trap that nobody ever wipes. In the tropical climate, dust combined with 85—90% humidity creates a breeding ground for mould, and the air conditioner circulates those particles throughout the room.
Engineering solution: Design of a flush "furniture-to-ceiling" junction — the ceiling meets the top edge of the wardrobe with zero clearance.
Technical execution: LuxeSpan engineers fix a rigid mounting timber to the structural concrete slab, running parallel to the future wardrobe line. The stretch membrane is installed from the walls to the mounting timber. The cabinetmakers then fit the wardrobe, bringing its fascia panel flush against the already-installed ceiling. The ceiling and the wardrobe are completely independent structures: the furniture can be replaced without dismantling the ceiling, yet visually they appear as a single monolithic unit.

The shadow-gap profile is mounted directly to the wall and follows its geometry precisely. This makes the quality of the base plaster critical: any bow or wave in the wall will be mirrored in the shadow line. Before installing a shadow-gap profile, walls must be levelled with guide rails or concealed behind silent stretch walls by LuxeSpan. The lock design of the profile minimises convective air exchange between the living space and the plenum above the ceiling, reducing the load on the air conditioner.
