Installed new doors — what about the trim? Plaster cracks within six months, drywall swells from humidity, and plastic trim looks cheap. In the tropics, you need a different approach.
The problem: door trim in a tropical climate
- Plaster trim: cracks from temperature swings (air conditioning ↔ outdoor heat), mould in the corners
- Drywall trim: swelling from humidity, termites, yellowing within 1—2 years
- Plastic panels: cheap appearance, brittleness, sun-bleaching
- MDF trim: absorbs moisture, warps, mould
The solution: stretch door trim made from architectural fabric
A high-strength synthetic fabric panel is mounted on a mini-frame around the perimeter of the doorway. The result — perfectly smooth trim that:
- Never cracks — The fabric is elastic and unaffected by door vibration
- Biological resistance — 100% synthetic material prevents black mould from forming in cold corners of the doorway
- Installed in 2 hours — one complete doorway
- Wide colour palette and premium textures — perfectly matched to your door tone or used for an architectural contrast
- 15+ years — no yellowing, no warping
- Elasticity against cracking — the fabric trim has no rigid monolithic bond to the door frame. Architectural fabric absorbs structural vibrations from a closing door without forming micro-cracks. You permanently forget about crumbling plaster
A turnkey approach: doors + trim + quiet stretch walls
LuxeSpan works in partnership with Mr. Pinglee — professional door installation. We handle the trim and quiet stretch walls; they handle the doors. One visit = a complete solution.

рџ’Ў Why door trim cracks
A doorway is a zone of elevated dynamic and thermal stress. When a door closes, it generates impact vibration; when the air conditioning runs, there is a significant temperature gradient between the room and the corridor. Rigid materials (plaster, gypsum) have a low elastic limit and are prone to micro-cracking under tropical conditions. Stretch trim made from architectural fabric has a high elastic limit. Thanks to its structural decoupling from the base wall, it absorbs all vibration and thermal deformations without any structural damage.
